Water Sanitation and Hygiene
(WASH) Project
The WASH project intends to introduce innovative techniques in schools to increase the access to safe drinking water and engage the participation of children/ youth in 8 government schools in Solapur, Pune & Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. In association with a Chilean based Plasma Water Solutions, Plasma Water Sanitation System (PWSS) and RO plant, The school students are involved in adopting WASH practices and advocating them with their peers and communities. The students also are supports in their initiatives to address the pertinent environmental issues in their schools and communities.
Aim of the project to improve sanitation facilities and practices in project district, the project expands its reach across three districts in Maharashtra, aiming to secure a healthier future for 7,000 public school children. It focuses on enhancing water access and sanitation in schools, addressing public health, and promoting children’s well‐being.
Impact
The WASH project significantly enhanced public health and hygiene in project schools across Maharashtra by installing water filtration units, training teachers on sanitation practices, and educating children on hygiene and ecological rights. It led to a substantial decrease in waterborne diseases, improved hygiene habits among thousands of students, and fostered a sustainable environmental culture within the community.
